The very first time I threw a pot on the wheel I knew that I was completely hooked. When I throw I find myself completely focussed and engaged, it is for me, a time of meditation, a space from which all the usual worries and anxieties are excluded. Pottery in general also has the appeal of being an endless journey. Slab construction, coil building, slip decorating, glazing, different clays, different temperatures. A myriad of possibilities all wrested from the most simple and basic ingredient – a ball of clay.
